Yad2 Not Loading Abroad? How to Rent Out or Sell Your Apartment or Car in Israel

In our check on 23 October 2026, Yad2 (the classifieds site) didn't open from abroad: not the site, not the login page, not the help section. Through SuperStableVPN, with an Israeli IP, the site opened. That matters if you're renting out or selling an apartment or a car you left in Israel: the ads, the messages from buyers and your personal area all live on this site.

Open Yad2 with an Israeli IP: free for 3 days, no credit card required. After that it's 17 CAD a month (about ₪36), taxes included, and only if you choose to subscribe. You'll need the free OpenVPN app: we send you a configuration file and instructions, you connect and open Yad2. There's no separate app of ours to install.

What people abroad need from Yad2

Everything below is from Yad2's terms of use (תקנון, in Hebrew; that page does open from abroad):

• Renting out or selling an apartment, or selling a car. Yad2 has free and paid listing options. Ads from business customers (real-estate agents, car dealers, commercial premises) are always paid, and so are cars over ₪200,000 and property for sale over ₪7,000,000. A basic ad in the second-hand section is free for up to 40 days and can be bumped manually once every 24 hours.
• Managing the ad. Bumping is a paid service: a private customer who buys it can bump the ad at most once every 4 hours. An ad can be frozen; a paid highlight still ends on its original date.
• Cancelling a paid listing. Until the ad goes live, you can cancel through the personal area or customer service and get a full refund within 14 days, to the same payment method. There's no refund once the ad has been published, even if you freeze it later.
• Proof of ownership. Yad2 may ask for ownership documents to verify the details in an ad.

How registration and login work

To register for posting, Yad2 asks for an email address and a phone number (terms, in Hebrew). According to Yad2's login form as saved by the Wayback Machine in January 2025: you log in with email and password or through Google or Apple; verification and password-reset codes go to email; and the mobile-number field accepted only the Israeli format starting with 05. We don't know whether that has changed since.

The phone number in the ad. In some sections Yad2 shows a virtual number instead of yours, and in some that's mandatory. Numbers in private car ads can only be called from a number with caller ID. If your ad shows an Israeli number, buyers' calls go there, so the SIM has to be with you or with whoever shows the apartment or car.

The app. The "יד2 - yad2" app is listed not only in the Israeli App Store but in foreign ones too. We didn't check whether it works from abroad.

What you can do without the website

From public sources — Yad2 terms of use, in Hebrew:

• Customer-service WhatsApp: 03-5522222, Sun–Thu 9:00–16:00. Yad2 doesn't publish a separate number for calls from abroad.
• Email: [email protected].
• Fax: 077-4448025.
• The "Contact us" form is on the site itself, so it's behind the Israeli IP too.
• An agent or family in Israel. Someone on the ground can post and manage the ad; for agents, posting on Yad2 is paid.

Yad2's terms don't give a postal address for inquiries.

How to open Yad2 with an Israeli IP

1. Sign up for SuperStableVPN: 3 days free, no credit card required. Install the free OpenVPN client on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android or Linux and import the configuration file we send you (setup).
2. Connect and check that an IP-lookup site shows Israel.
3. Open yad2.co.il. If the listings open, the connection is sorted.

Ours is a static IP from a range of Israeli residential addresses. Sites flag such addresses less often than a regular VPN's datacenter ones, though no site promises to accept them (residential IP vs a regular VPN).

What a VPN doesn't fix

• An Israeli number. For registration and SMS codes you will also need an Israeli phone number; see SMS codes from Israel abroad.
• Showing the apartment or car, handing over keys and signing the contract. Someone on the ground has to do that.
• Other closed sites. See the table of 106 Israeli sites.
