Getting Your Israeli Medical Records for a Doctor in Canada

A patient shows a doctor a medical summary on a tablet in a clinic with the Toronto skyline outside, and a golden arc leads to a folder in the cloud

Log in to your Israeli health fund's personal area, download your recent test results, medication list, vaccination record and — where the fund offers one — an English summary as PDFs, and bring them with a one-page English list to your first appointment in Canada. In our check on 23 October 2026 the Maccabi and Meuhedet logins opened from Canada; to sign in you need a one-time code sent to the phone number on file. Leumit and Clalit are the exceptions: their personal areas did not open from abroad. Anything not online you can request as a copy under the Patient's Rights Law.

What each health fund offers online

Menus change, so look in your own personal area. According to the funds' own pages:

  • Maccabi — an English PDF report for travellers with medicines bought in the past six months, drug sensitivities with the generic ingredient, selected recent lab results and the latest ECG. On the website it is produced from the medical file ("תיק רפואי") with the "travelling abroad" button ("נוסעים לחו״ל"); in the app it is in the medical file as well (Maccabi). Separately you can download your vaccination record, doctor visit summaries for the past year and hospitalization summaries. Mental health visit summaries are not shown online.
  • Leumit — the online medical file includes lab, X-ray and ultrasound results and medication lists. Leumit has also offered a medical summary in English with regular medications, diagnoses, sensitivities and vaccines; we could not re-check that page, so ask your clinic if you don't find it.
  • Clalit — the website and app show your medical record, lab and imaging results, prescriptions and referrals; visit summaries are kept in the medical file too.
  • Meuhedet — the online service shows lab results with history and your prescriptions, and lets you issue medical documents online.

Step by step

  1. Make sure the code will reach you. Logins send a one-time code to the phone number on file. Maccabi sends it by SMS or voice message (by email only for members registered by passport), valid for 5 minutes (Maccabi). If that number is a lapsed Israeli SIM, update it with your fund first — Meuhedet, for example, does this through your clinic or *3833 — and allow for the time difference.
  2. Log in. Maccabi and Meuhedet: as usual, from Canada. Leumit and Clalit: see the next section.
  3. Download. Save the English summary (if your fund has one), lab results from the past year or two, the medication list and the vaccination record as PDFs.
  4. Check the files. Open each PDF on your phone with the internet off, so you know it is saved and not just a link that needs a fresh login.
  5. Write a one-page English list: diagnoses, medication names with dose (generic names help), allergies, past surgeries. A Canadian doctor will usually prefer this over a pile of Hebrew pages; translate only what matters.

Leumit and Clalit members

In our check, neither Leumit's site nor its personal area nor Clalit Online opened from Canada. Without a VPN you can ask your clinic for the documents, or download them before you leave Israel. To use the personal area from abroad you need an Israeli IP address: SuperStableVPN gives you a static IP from a range of Israeli residential addresses through the free standard OpenVPN client on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android or Linux. To receive SMS codes you will also need an Israeli phone number on file with your fund. It is calmer to set up the connection in advance than the day before an appointment, when you need the records urgently. If you are a Leumit or Clalit member, test access with an Israeli IP — 3 days free, no credit card required.

If something isn't online

Israel's Patient's Rights Law (1996) gives a patient the right to receive information from their medical file, including a copy. For anything not in the personal area — for example, an old hospital file — ask the clinic or the hospital's medical records department. Procedures and fees vary, so check with the institution.

From public sources — Clalit medical record copies, Clalit call centre, Maccabi medical file, Maccabi call centres, Leumit request form, Leumit for members abroad, Meuhedet contacts (all in Hebrew):

  • Clalit: copies from community clinics are requested through the Mor Institute, from hospitals at the hospital itself; computerised records from the last 5 years cost ₪10. The Mor Institute: +972-3-5772789 (03-5772789 in Israel), Sun–Thu 8:30–11:30; [email protected]; fax 03-6907087 (+972-3-6907087); post: מחלקת תיעוד ורשומות, שירותי בריאות כללית במור, רחוב ז'בוטינסקי 7, Bnei Brak 5110802. The call centre from abroad is +972-3-6333333.
  • Maccabi: a Maccabi medical centre issues copies for a fee; records from before 15 July 2020 only come from there. The call centre from abroad is +972-3-5143999.
  • Leumit: the request form is normally handed in at a medical centre; in exceptional cases it goes to [email protected], by fax2mail to 153-3-6970378 or by post, with a signed confidentiality waiver; records from the last 5 years cost ₪10, and questions go to 03-6949699. The line for members abroad is +972-4-879-6199, [email protected].
  • Meuhedet: from abroad +972-77-2703833, 24/7; email [email protected], WhatsApp 050-6697489.

Meuhedet doesn't describe, on the pages we looked at, how to request a copy without the personal area — ask on its number for calls from abroad.
