Leumit Not Loading Abroad? How to Get Into Your Leumit Online Account

Leumit's online account won't open from abroad? That is what we saw too: in our check on 23 October 2026 it opened from Israel, but not from abroad. Through SuperStableVPN, with an Israeli IP, it opened. To receive SMS codes you will also need an Israeli phone number.

What you need in the account after a move

• Your medical file ("My health file"): lab, X-ray and ultrasound results, medications and prescriptions, allergies and vaccines, referrals, and copies of hospital documents (Leumit).
• A medical summary in English, in the same file: regular medications, diagnoses, allergies and vaccines. It's the document to show a new doctor; for what else to bring, see Israeli medical records for a doctor in Canada.
• Prescriptions, Form 17 and refunds. According to Leumit, you can renew a prescription online up to 3 times a quarter, processed within 4 working days; a Form 17 financial commitment is issued immediately, or within 5 business days if it needs approval; refunds reach your bank account within 5 business days (Leumit).

How the login works

Leumit no longer uses passwords: following Ministry of Health guidance, you log in with a one-time code only. You enter your ID number and your mobile number, and the code arrives by SMS at the mobile registered with Leumit; if you aren't an Israeli citizen, you choose "Other" in the ID field (Leumit). In the app, after the first login, you can switch on face or fingerprint login.

You change the phone number on file through *507 or at your branch. Leumit doesn't say whether a foreign number can be registered. If Leumit still has an Israeli SIM you no longer use, update it while the codes still reach you, or ask the line for members abroad (below). More on codes: SMS codes from Israel abroad.

What you can do without the website

From public sources — Leumit for members abroad, Leumit call centre, Leumit technical support, Leumit public inquiries (all in Hebrew):

• The line for members abroad: +972-4-879-6199, email [email protected], Messenger m.me/leumit. It serves members living abroad for a long period or permanently, and Leumit says it is not for booking appointments or requesting prescriptions before you return to Israel; no hours are given.
• Call centre: *507 — information and appointments; Sun–Thu 07:00–20:00, Fri and holiday eves 07:00–12:00. *507 is an Israeli-only number. You can also leave a request in the form on the website and a representative calls you back.
• Website and app technical support: 1700-550-800 or the form on the website; Sun–Thu 07:00–19:30, Fri and holiday eves 07:00–12:00. 1700 numbers are Israeli-only.
• Complaints (public inquiries, פניות הציבור): the form on the website (answered within 14 days), fax 1533-6949614, or by post to לכבוד פניות הציבור, לאומית שירותי בריאות, שפרינצק 23, Tel Aviv.
• A copy of your medical file by form. The medical information request form is normally handed in at a medical centre. Only in exceptional cases is it sent to the medical information department, at [email protected], by fax2mail to 153-3-6970378 or by post, with a signed confidentiality waiver. The reply comes by secure email at no charge or by registered mail; computerised records from the last 5 years cost ₪10, and questions go to 03-6949699 (Leumit form, in Hebrew).
• The app. The main "לאומית" app was listed only in the Israeli App Store, not in the other countries' stores we looked at. We didn't check Google Play.

Leumit doesn't publish a regular number in place of *507, or a WhatsApp number.

How to log in with an Israeli IP

1. Sign up for SuperStableVPN: 3 days free, no credit card required. Install the free OpenVPN client on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android or Linux and import the configuration file we send you (setup).
2. Connect and check that an IP-lookup site shows Israel.
3. Open Leumit's online account (online.leumit.co.il). If you get the login form, the connection is sorted: enter your ID, your mobile number and the code.

Ours is a static IP from a range of Israeli residential addresses. Sites flag such addresses less often than a regular VPN's datacenter ones, though no site promises to accept them (residential IP vs a regular VPN).

What a VPN doesn't fix

• SMS codes. To receive SMS codes you will also need an Israeli phone number; see SMS codes from Israel abroad.
• Wrong details, a restricted account or a question about your membership. Only Leumit can sort those out.
• Other health funds. Maccabi and Meuhedet open from abroad today, Clalit doesn't; the comparison is in Leumit and Clalit from abroad.
