Sheba Connect Not Loading Abroad? How to Get Your Discharge Letters and Results

A woman at home viewing lab results on a laptop, a phone with a message beside it

Is Sheba's personal area not opening from abroad and saying "Access to this site is not available from your region"? That is what we saw too, in our check on 23 October 2026. The hospital's own website opens from abroad today. Through SuperStableVPN, with an Israeli IP, Sheba Connect opened. To receive SMS codes you will also need an Israeli phone number.

Open Sheba Connect with an Israeli IP: free for 3 days, no credit card required. After that it's 17 CAD a month (about ₪36), taxes included, and only if you choose to subscribe. You'll need the free OpenVPN app: we send you a configuration file and instructions, you connect and open Sheba Connect. There's no separate app of ours to install.

What you need in Sheba Connect after a move

According to Sheba (Sheba Connect, in Hebrew; medical records department, in Hebrew):

  • Discharge letters and medical summaries: letters after a hospital stay and visit summaries with recommendations and instructions. This is usually what a new doctor asks for; for what else to bring, see Israeli medical records for a doctor in Canada.
  • Lab and imaging results, your medical history, certificates and documents. Documents from a hospital stay are free in Sheba Connect and available right away.
  • Your own scans from elsewhere. You don't have to bring a disc of an earlier scan to Sheba: the imaging results section has a button for sending previous scans; you copy the files from the disc to a computer first.
  • Your child's and your elderly parents' documents. A child is linked to a parent's account by email to [email protected], with a copy of your ID and its appendix (ספח); it takes up to 2 business days. You can add your phone to a parent's account as an additional number and then log in with their ID and your number.

How the login works

According to Sheba, you enter your ID number and mobile, then a one-time code that arrives by SMS or voice message. On first registration you also add an email: a link arrives there, after which you enter your ID, phone and a fresh code once more (Sheba, in Hebrew). New users can get the code by email only after first registering by SMS or voice message. Before your first visit to Sheba the account works only partly, showing just your appointments.

If the phone Sheba has on file is wrong or no longer yours, Sheba says to send a copy of your ID with its appendix, what you need and the new number to [email protected] (Sheba, in Hebrew). Sheba doesn't say whether the system accepts a foreign number. Update the number while the codes still reach you.

What you can do without the portal

From public sources — Sheba medical records department, Sheba Connect, Sheba customer service (in Hebrew):

  • Request documents by email. The hospital's website opens from abroad today, and the medical records department page has request forms. Emergency room documents are requested from [email protected], outpatient clinic documents from [email protected]; for the last 5 years it costs ₪10, older documents cost extra. Include a copy of your ID or passport, your full name and a contact phone. A confidentiality waiver form is on the same page (Sheba, in Hebrew).
  • Ask your new doctor to write to Sheba. A doctor's request goes on the clinic's letterhead with the patient's full name and ID number, the details of what is needed, the doctor's stamp and signature, and contact details. For hospital stays it goes to [email protected]; for the emergency room to [email protected] or by fax to +972-3-5307447.
  • Sheba Connect technical support: WhatsApp +972-54-6804261, phone +972-3-5303030 (extension 2), email [email protected], Sun–Thu 8:00–17:00 Israel time (Sheba, in Hebrew).
  • Customer service: WhatsApp and phone +972-3-5303030, email [email protected], Sun–Thu 7:00–21:30, Fridays and holiday eves 7:00–13:00; written requests are answered within 2 business days (Sheba, in Hebrew).

How to log in with an Israeli IP

  1. Sign up for SuperStableVPN: 3 days free, no card needed. Install the free OpenVPN client on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android or Linux and import the configuration file we send you (setup).
  2. Connect and check that an IP-check site shows Israel.
  3. Open Sheba Connect (shebaconnect.sheba.co.il). If a login form appears, the connection problem is solved.

Our address is a static IP from a range of Israeli residential addresses. Sites flag addresses like these less often than the data-centre addresses of ordinary VPNs, though no site promises to accept them (residential IP vs a regular VPN).

What a VPN doesn't fix

  • SMS codes. To receive SMS codes you will also need an Israeli phone number; see SMS codes from Israel abroad.
  • A document isn't in the portal, such as a very old hospital stay. Only the medical records department issues it, on request.
  • Other hospitals: Rambam, Assuta and the government hospitals on the Apollo platform are closed from abroad too, while Ichilov and Shaare Zedek open today; see Israeli hospital portals from abroad and the table from our check.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get the Sheba Connect code some way other than SMS?

According to Sheba, the one-time code arrives by SMS or a voice message to the mobile you enter with your ID number. New users can receive the code by email only after first registering by SMS or voice message.

What does a copy of a Sheba discharge letter cost?

According to Sheba, documents from a hospital stay (discharge letters, lab and imaging results) are free and available right away in Sheba Connect. If they aren't there, documents from the last 5 years cost ₪10 on request and older ones cost more; Sheba doesn't say how much.

Does the Sheba app work abroad?

We found the "שיבא" app in the Israeli, Canadian, US, UK and German App Stores. Its personal area is the same Sheba Connect; we didn't check whether it opens from the app abroad. The OpenVPN client sends all of the device's traffic through the Israeli IP, apps included.
