Israeli Payslips and Employer Portals While Living in Canada

Today most Israeli payslips can be reached directly from Canada, but one place that matters did not open from abroad: the Tax Authority. In our check on 23 October 2026, the public sites of the payroll providers Hilan and Malam and Michpal's employee portal, Michpal+, opened from Canada, while the Israel Tax Authority's sites, where you can download your Forms 106 for the last six years, did not. The simplest route is still the employer: it must give you Form 106, and HR can send you documents. You need an Israeli IP for the Tax Authority.
Where Israeli payslips live
Many Israeli employers outsource payroll to a provider, and employees see their documents (payslips, tlush maskoret, and Form 106) in that provider's portal or app. Common names you will meet:
- Hilan — a large Israeli payroll provider; its mobile app gives employees direct access to their payroll data.
- Michpal — an Israeli company whose main products include payroll and HR software. Employees get their payslips and Form 106 in its Michpal+ portal (michpaliram.co.il) or the Michpal+ app, which is also in the Canadian and US App Stores.
- Malam Payroll (Malam Sachar) — provides payroll systems and an online payslip service where employees can also view their annual Form 106.
Your employer may use one of these or its own system. Ask HR which portal you are on.
What opened from Canada
In our check, the public sites of Hilan and Malam opened from a home connection in Canada. Michpal's corporate site did not open from abroad, but that is not where employees log in: its employee portal, Michpal+, opened from Canada with its login form. You log in with your ID number (or passport) and a password, or with your ID number and mobile number for a one-time code, which goes only to a phone on file. Your employer has to invite you first, and a password reset goes to the email on file; without one, the portal tells you to contact your employer. For Hilan and Malam we checked the public sites, not every employee login behind them, and the providers don't publish how they treat logins from abroad. If a portal opens but the login fails, the usual cause is the login code: it goes to the phone or email the portal has on file, and if that is an Israeli number you no longer have, fixing it can mean going through HR in Israel across the time difference.
Form 106 from your employer
Form 106 summarizes your salary and tax deductions for a tax year: months worked, pension contributions, credit points and more. Under the income tax regulations on salary deductions (section 13), the employer must give it to you by March 31 of the following year, and if your job ends, on your last day of work. You may need it for a tax refund request or as proof of Israeli employment income.
- Before your last day, download your payslips and Forms 106 from the portal, and check which phone and email it uses for codes.
- After you've left, ask HR or the employer's payroll department to send you the forms you are missing.
- If the portal opens from Canada, download them yourself as usual.
Form 106 from the Tax Authority
Lost a form, or the employer has since closed? Since July 2023 the Israel Tax Authority lets you download your Forms 106 for the last six years from its personal area, without asking the employer (gov.il). That covers the same window as a refund: salaried employees who don't have to file an annual return can request a tax refund for up to six years back (gov.il).
From Canada, that personal area is the hard part: in our check, the Tax Authority's site and its personal area did not open from abroad. In January 2021 the Tax Authority said it applies tighter controls to connections from abroad and examines each case on its own, not a blanket block; in our check, it did not open from abroad once. The full walk-through, with alternatives such as the paper refund form, is in Israel Tax Authority from abroad.
What you can do without the website
From public sources — the Tax Authority's contact page, the Tax Authority's personal-area support (in Hebrew):
- National service centre: *4954, Sunday to Thursday 08:15–15:45; extension 1 covers income tax, VAT and tax coordination (tiyum mas).
- Registration and the personal area: *4954 or 02-5656400, Sunday to Thursday 08:15–17:45. *4954 is an Israeli number; 02-5656400 is a regular number, dialled from abroad as +972-2-5656400.
- Leave a message for the office handling your file: *9848 or 074-7619848; from abroad, +972-74-7619848.
The Tax Authority's contact page lists no email or fax for public inquiries and no separate number for calls from abroad. Complaint contacts are in Israel Tax Authority from abroad. For the payslips and Forms 106 themselves, your employer is still the easiest place to ask.
Logging in with an Israeli IP
For the Tax Authority, connect from an Israeli IP first. Try SuperStableVPN — 3 days free, no credit card required: install the free standard OpenVPN client on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android or Linux, import the configuration file, connect and check that an IP-lookup site shows Israel. If the page now loads where it didn't open before, the connection part is solved. To receive SMS codes you will also need an Israeli phone number, and a wrong password is an account matter. It is calmer to set this up in advance than when a refund deadline is close; then, when you need it, you just press "Connect". Typical errors are explained in Israeli sites blocked abroad.
Pension and keren hishtalmut statements
Payslips show what was deposited; the full picture is in the personal area of your pension fund and keren hishtalmut (study fund). See Your Israeli pension fund from abroad.
Taxes are a professional question
Canada and Israel have an income tax convention (signed on 21 September 2016, in force since 21 December 2016; Department of Finance Canada). How your Israeli salary is taxed while you live in Canada depends on your residency and situation. This article is not tax or employment advice — talk to an accountant who handles Canada–Israel cases.
